~ of the Evolving Code Wiki

SORRY for a break in continuity of this site over the past couple of weeks, but Register.com and SnapNames.com caught me napping and sold "evolvingcode.net" out from under us... They have now helped us regain the domain, and we are seeking some safety nets to prevent this ever happening again...

Welcome to the Evolving QwikiWiki: this is the new (Spring 2005) homepage of the bioinformatics research laboratory led by Dr. Stephen Freeland at the UMBC, Department of Biological Sciences.
This Wiki is being developed to offer information about all aspects of the evolution of the genetic code: from its origin to its impact on modern organisms (and its relevance to modern challenges of bioinformatics).
Part of our aim is to ultimately extend this wiki into an online Genetic Code Community . Thus, the menu-bar links at the top of this page indicate major regions of the Wiki that may be of interest of or use to you and to us ~ you can add your papers, links, web-sites etc. directly at the appropriate page.
So use the text-box above to search for information on a specific word or phrase, or visit our suggested Entry Points For The Evolving Code Wiki for help getting started. (we also, of course, recommend Wikipedia for a quick, all-around introduction to the genetic code)

(from July 2005, we have kept an e-log of media reports relating to the evolution/intelligent design controversy)
